Adobe AIR gets support for Intel x86-based Android devices

Adobe has announced that it would offer native adobe AIR application support for x86-based Android devices. This would let application developers to pack AIR applications for Intel x86 based Android devices easily. A beta version of the app be available in the AIR SDK on Adobe Labs soon and the final version would be available in Adobe’s next major release of AIR.

The AIR Runtime application with x86 support would be released on Google Play Store soon and will receive regular updates in sync with our other supported platforms, said the company. Even though Adobe stopped Flash Player development for the smartphones and tablets back in 2011, it still continues to offer updates to the AIR runtime that powers thousands of Android apps.

Adobe AIR powers more than 50,000 unique mobile applications on the Apple Store and Google Play Store and have been installed more than a billion times by users across the world, Adobe said.
