Google updates Maps on Android and iOS with new features

Google has pumped up more power into its mobile apps on Android and iOS. For starters, the company has added support to save maps for offline viewing. Users can now save and even name multiple maps by signing in through Gmail account and access them later when in need.

Moving on, Google Maps on both the platforms now get Uber integration which will enable users to check the status of nearby Uber cars. If you have the Uber app installed, the button which appears alongside transit and walking directions will let you compare your route directly from Google Maps.

The apps also tell you to which lane to stay in, so you don’t miss your exit. However, this feature is only available to users in the US and Canada. Google has also added new filters to restaurants, bars and hotels which offers more information about price, user rating and so on. Users have been able to view transit options by “depart at” or “arrive by” times for quite some time. With the latest update, depending on the city, users can also look for the “last train”.

Google Maps were earlier updated with faster route notification on iOS and Android in February this year. All these latest features are now available for iOS and Android .
