HTC seems to be back after several slumps in its revenues and profits, as the Taiwanese manufacturer has posted its unaudited results for the fiscal second quarter of 2014, on its investors website. The second quarter saw the release of its latest flagship device, the HTC One M8, which is possibly doing quite well for the company. The device, armed with the same popular design as its predecessor, added a second camera module on its back to tout interesting software based effects as one of its USPs. Couple that with top end specifications and a premium build, the company might have with them, a winner, at least financially.
HTC Corporation (TWSE: 2 49 8), a global leader in mobile innovation and design, today reported unaudited consolidated results for its fiscal 2014 second quarter ended June 3 0 , 2014 . Unaudited quarterly revenue was NT$ 65.06 billion and net profit before tax was NT$ 2. 76 billion. Operating profit was NT$ 2. 43 billion, and net profit after tax was NT$ 2.26 billion, o r NT$ 2. 74 per s hare based on 8 23,438 thousand weighted average number of shares.
As you can see above, the company has posted quarterly revenues of 65.06 billion NT$ (2.1 billion USD) and 2.43 billion NT$ in profits (81 million USD), with net profits of 2.26 billion NT$ after taxes. This is more than a good jump from 33 billion in revenue and a 2.05 billion operating loss last quarter. This might mean that HTC finally have their much needed hit devices in the market, as evidenced from the recent launches of the One M8 and the Desire 816 in India. Not to underestimate the lower end phones too, which have big sales numbers, although with lesser margins. This revival of sorts from the Taiwanese manufacturer is a signal of healthy competition in the smartphone market, which was much needed after a spell of Samsung dominance. It’s early days though, as the company could still be out of the top 5 smartphone OEMs.
