Uber launches in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Kolkata

Uber

Uber has launched its operations in four new cities – Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Kolkata in India simultaneously. Uber entered India last year starting from Bangalore on 29th August, 2013 and it quickly expanded to New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune. It is now operational in 10 Indian cities, more than any other countries outside of United States (by number of operational cities) in less than a year.

Uber launched uberX, cheaper version of the UberBLACK in India in three India cities, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad back in June.

To celebrate the launch, Uber is offering free rides to new users. If you are new to Uber, you can sign up using the promo code UBERLOVESINDIA and get 3 free rides worth Rs. 200 each (Valid until 30th September, 2014).

These cities are still in testing phase, so limited cars will be available, but they are working towards adding cars across all four cities. Uber has also announced that it is slashing prices on both UberBLACK and uberX by 25% in Bangalore for a limited period, where it is operational for about a year. This doesn’t require a promo code, and the offer would automatically be applied on your Uber receipt.

Update: Uber has also announced that it’s removing the flat airport fare on UberBLACK in Bangalore. So, instead of paying Rs. 2000, you will pay somewhere between Rs. 712 and Rs. 737. Bangalore users can use TRYUBERBLR and get Rs. 500 off the first Uber ride.
