Apple releases iOS 8 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

iOS8 update

Apple has released iOS 8, its latest operating system for iPhone and iPad users as it promised. Announced at the WWDC in June this year, iOS 8 is compatible with the iPhone 4s and newer, iPad 2 and newer, all iPad mini models, and the fifth-generation iPod touch.

The latest operating system brings improvements to camera, photos, keyboards. However, one of the most important additions is support for Healthkit and Health app. The app gathers information allowed from various health apps and fitness devices and provides users with a clear and current overview in one place. HealthKit APIs offer developers the ability for health and fitness apps to communicate with each other.

One of the key features of iOS 8 update is the calls Continuity feature that enables users to seamlessly toggle between devices that allows them to answer iPhone calls from their iPad, or send standard SMS text messages when their iPad is connected to their iPhone.
In addition, iOS 8 includes interactive notifications, app widgets in the Notification Center, and Messages improvements that let users manage group conversations for the first time. Another feature of the iOS8 is the Homekit that lets users control their smart devices. This essentially means that home appliances can be controlled via their iPhone.

iOS 7 users and earlier with compatible devices can upgrade over-the-air on compatible devices by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
