Xiaomi to sell 100,000 smartphones a week in India during Diwali

Xiaomi has announced that it would sell 100,000 phones a week in October during Diwali. This was revealed by  Hugo Barra, Vice President of Xiaomi Global to . Yesterday at the GMIC Bangalore, Manu Jain, Head at Xiaomi India said that the Mi 3 would be available again in India during Diwali, weeks after it stopped selling the smartphone in the country.

The company currently sells Xiaomi Redmi 1S through Flipkart. It started with 40,000 units, later it increased it to 60,000 units. In the fifth sale of the Redmi 1S on September 30th, the company would sell another 60,000 units.

In the interview to Reuters India, Barra said that they are chartering planes from Hong Kong to India to bring in Mi 3 and Redmi phones. So it could sell 60,000 units of Redmi 1s and 40,000 units of Mi 3 during Diwali. The company has not reveal how many units would go on sale in each. It also did not reveal any details about the Redmi Note sales.
