Facebook reported $3.2 billion in revenue in the third quarter of 2014 that is 59% up from $2.02 billion in 2013. Net income increased to $806 million in the third quarter, compared to $425 million in the year-ago period.
The social network generated $2.96 billion in advertising revenue which is up from $1.8 billion in Q3 of 2013. Mobile continues to drive Facebook’s growth, representing roughly 66 percent of ad revenue for Q3. Comparatively, mobile accounted for 49 percent of ad sales during 2013’s third quarter.
Number of users accessing Facebook keeps on increasing every quarter. The world’s largest social network has a total of 1.35 billion monthly active users. Out of these 864 million are daily active users (DAUs), reporting a 19 percent jump from the same month last year. Facebook is accessed on mobile by 703 million DAUs which shows year-over-year increase of 39 percent. Finally, mobile MAUs came in at roughly 1.1 billion last month, which represented a 29 percent gain.

Moreover, Facebook disclosed the financial performance for WhatsApp for the first time since its acquisition in February this year for $22 billion. According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday, WhatsApp lost $232.5 million in the first six months of 2014, compared to a loss of $58.8 million in the first six months of 2013.
