Samsung at its annual developer conference in San Francisco announced a new 3D camera, which is unique in a lot of ways. The global market leader calls it Project Beyond and says they designed it exclusively to capture 360 degree videos – which can be utilized on the upcoming Gear VR virtual reality headset.
Pranav Mistry, Vice President of Research and head of the Think Tank Team at Samsung introduced the Project Beyond.
For starters, the camera looks like a hockey puck, but it actually contains about 16 side cameras with ultra-wide lenses, which have the ability to capture video footage at the rate of one giga-pixel per second.
Furthermore, there’s a camera on the top of the Project Beyond and it captures all the overhead shots. Unfortunately, Samsung did not reveal the product availability details, but one thing is certain – Samsung is very serious on offering great content for all its Gear VR consumers.
Meanwhile, we are on the show floor and we might get a chance to check out the latest Project Beyond camera. So, stay tuned to our website to know more about the new innovation from Samsung.
