Facebook is finally bringing Graph Search to mobile. The social network will now allow users to search for a specific post from their mobile phone.
“With a quick search, you can get back to a fun video from your graduation, a news article you’ve been meaning to read, or photos from your friend’s wedding last summer. Search at Facebook is a long-term effort. Today is a step toward helping you tap into the experiences and perspectives of your friends.”
posted Tom Stocky, VP of Search, Facebook in a company blog.
Users will be able to search inside posts of their friends and find a specific post, photo and video in addition to people and places. The new search feature adds to Facebook’s Graph Search, an algorithm that enables you to search your friend network with phrases like “My friends who live in New York.” In order to search a particular post, users will have to add keywords related to it similar to the way we do for Google search.
It must be noted that the search results are personalized for each user, so you cannot search for all posts on Facebook and only the ones that have been shared with you. In 2013, Facebook announced its “graph search,” which enabled users to dive into the vast amount of data which they can already access. The new feature is rolling out to iOS app and desktop version of Facebook in the US.
