Xiaomi is gearing up to set up a research and development (R&D) unit in Bangalore, India, according to a latest report from PTI. The unit is expected to be operational in few months.
This is will be the first R&D unit from Xiaomi outside China and it will focus on localising its products and features for the Indian market through the unit. The company is in the process of signing the lease for the center and work in the Bangalore unit is expected to kickstart from March.
“The R&D unit will focus on India-specific products to begin with. We will focus on localization, themes and then India specific features to cater to local requirements here.”
Xiaomi india head Manu Jain told PTI.
