Samsung has finally started sending out press invites to an Unpacked event being held in a months’ time on Sunday 1st March 2015 in Barcelona.
The event, which takes place on the Sunday before MWC 2015 officially begins, is likely to see the launch of the Galaxy S6 and the invite points to a Curved Design suggesting we’ll also see a curved edge smartphone announced.
The invite comes with the tagline “What’s next” and the image of a curved silhouette which points towards all those rumours of a S Edge variant of the Galaxy S6. Looking at the invite, the silhouette curves are rather steep which could be a reference to a style akin to the Galaxy S II, which had a very slim body and a camera hump.
However, recent rumours suggest that the Galaxy Note Edge was a concept device for future handsets and the launch at MWC 2015 will see the Galaxy S Edge announced with two curved edge displays. Spec-wise, we’re expecting the Galaxy S6 to feature a 5-5.3 inch 2k Quad HD display, an Exynos 7420 SoC (or potentially a Snapdragon 810 although this seems less likely), a slimmer body, a fingerprint sensor built into a larger home button and 3GB RAM alongside a 20MP rear camera with OIS and a 5MP front facing snapper.
What does Samsung have in-store for us at MWC? We’ll find out in just under four weeks and we’ll be live from Barcelona so be sure to stay tuned to find out!
[Update: Samsung has sent out invites officially. The event will be live streamed on YouTube as usual. The Galaxy Unpacked 2015 starts at 6:30 PM CET (11:00 PM IST) on March 1st, Sunday.]
