Tag Heuer is the latest watch maker that will foray into the smartwatch market. The luxury watchmaker is expected to launch a smartwatch at Basel World event tomorrow.
Tag Heuer’s Chief Executive Jean-Claude Biver told Bloomberg that the company has made some Silicon Valley partnerships for the smartwatch. He stated that “the hardware and the software will come from Silicon Valley. But the watch case, the dial, the design, the idea, the crown, that part of the watch will, of course, be Swiss.” According to PocketLint, the Swiss watch maker has partnered with Google and Intel. The device will be a digital version of the TAG Heuer Carrera, one of the company’s best selling traditional timepieces.
There might be a possibility that the watch will run on Google’s Android Wear. At present there is no word about the details and specs of the smartwatch.
