Although Instagram is a great photo sharing app it lacks one of the important feature of making photo collages. But this is about to change as the app has finally responded to every users constant request and launched a collage app. Dubbed as Layout, the app lets iPhone users combine up to nine photos in a single shot.
Users can select upto nine photos from their Camera Roll and they can be organized in three sections: recent photos snapped, photos with people’s faces in them, and an area with all your shots. The Layout app offers 10 custom layout options for your photo collage but you can also customize the photos with editing controls for layout, sizing, flipping, and rotation.
A fun addition in the Layout app is a “Photo Booth” button that lets you use capture more spontaneous moments. When you tap this button, the app starts a countdown timer and then captures a series of photos that you will see appear instantly in a layout. Instagram said that one in five of the app’s 300 million monthly active users post collages and it this has led the company to build Layout. This is the second creative app to come out of Instagram in the past year as it unveiled Hyperlapse, a standalone app for time-lapse videos, back in August.
Layout app is live for iPhone on the Apple App Store and and Android version is in the works and will be available in coming months.
