Foursquare is bringing an old but important feature back to its Swarm app. The Swarm app is getting the mayorship feature that was popular on Foursquare before it got split up with Swarm in May last year.
In order to become a mayor you will have to check-in into a place, that can be any listed business, more than anyone else. The app counts the check ins on a 30-day rolling basis and it considers one check-in per day. Swarm is also using a progress bar, that will tell you how many check-ins you need to take over as Mayor. Along with the mayorship, the app also gets a crown badge that you lose if you loose your mayorship.
Foursquare has been continuously updating the Swarm app on Android and iOS with a number of new features. Last month, the app received a Sticker Book, asking users to compete against themselves to collect up to 100 stickers. In April, the app was updated with stickers for users check-in photos. Swarm also lets you message your nearby friends.
