FLIR Systems has announced that its new FLIR ONE thermal camera accessory for iPhone and iPad is available for purchase worldwide and the Android version is available for pre-order. The thermal imager was unveiled at the CES earlier this year that sees heat and accurately measures temperature when connected to iOS or Android smartphone.
It can see temperature variations smaller than a tenth of a degree so that it can identify energy inefficiencies and water leaks in your home, says the company. The new FLIR ONE uses micro USB connector for Android and can connect to iPhone and iPad using Lightning connector. It uses an internal battery and features four times the resolution of the previous version.
It uses FLIR’s patented multi-spectral dynamic imaging (MSX) technology, which embosses the edge details from FLIR ONE’s visible camera onto the thermal image producing high fidelity images. The company will release an updated iOS and Android SDKs so that the developers can build and launch creative apps for both mobile devices.
The new FLIR ONE for iOS devices is priced at $249.99 and ships worldwide, while the Android-compatible version is available for pre-order at the same price and ships in July. It will roll-out at worldwide e-tailers and retailers in July and continue throughout the second half of 2015, said the company.
