Zimperium Stagefright Detector Android App launched

Zimperium had discovered the Stagefright vulnerability which was said to affect over 95% of Android devices. The mobile security company has now launched a Stagefright Detector Android App that checks devices for the vulnerability.

Stagefright detector

Stagefright Android vulnerability allows hackers to get system or media privileges of your device when your device is processing an MMS, without need of any end-user action. The Stagefright Detector app will let users know whether their device is vulnerable to such threat and whether you need to update your mobile operating system.

“We are working with carriers and device vendors to design solutions to protect users that do not currently have Zimperium zIPS on their phones.”

posted Zimperium in a company blog.

Along with the Android app, the company has also released a video that offers a demo of how the vulnerability hits the devices. Just yesterday Google announced monthly security updates for Nexus devices while Samsung did the same for its phones.
