Samsung did not announce the company’s next Gear smartwatch at the Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event today as rumored earlier, but it teased the Gear S2 smartwatch at the event. Samsung’s teaser shows that smartwatch will have a round display as expected. It also shows a metal casing, which could just be a placeholder. We already know that it will run on Tizen-based wearable OS, similar to the Gear S that was introduced last year.
The Gear S2 smartwatch codenamed Orbis is expected to come with built-in SIM support for 3G and voice calling capabilities similar to the Gear S. There is S Voice, Phone dialer, Message, Nike+, S Health and more icons in the teaser. Samsung also teased Heart Rate sensor on the smartwatch.
The Samsung Gear S2 will be officially unveiled at the IFA 2015 in Berlin on September 3rd, which is just a few weeks away.
