Sony high-resolution h.ear on headphones announced for $199.99


Sony has announced new High-Resolution Audio compatible headphones at IFA 2015 along with the Xperia Z5 series.The over-ear headphones are called “h.ear On“.

Sony claims that the h.ear on headband-style headphones deliver Hi-Res Audio compatibility with 40mm HD drivers which reproduce sounds up to 60 kHz. They also offer an augmented bass that is complemented by lightweight CCAW voice coils which yield high-linearity responses in high-pitched sounds. Sony says that the domes of the acoustic diaphragms have titanium-coated to minimize unwanted vibrations. The headphones have a foldable 8-ounce closed-back design and detachable cables.

The headphones also feature battery-powered dual noise sensor technology and Sony’s automatic noise cancelling feature to filter out unwanted noise for up to 16 hours after which they can be charged via Micro-USB. They also come with a color-coordinated cable that is detachable and has an in-line multifunction button and microphone which allows hands-free phone calls with smartphones that support that functionality. Finally, the headphones come with a carrying pouch.

Along with the h.ear on headphones, Sony has also launched the h.ear in earphones. They come with a  ‘AI Noise Cancelling’ feature; which when turned on will assess the level of background noise to auto choose the best setting depending where users are. It includes a frequency response ranging from 5Hz to 40,000Hz and features a 9mm high-sensitivity driver unit. The h.ear in earphones that come with built in dual noise sensor technology and can run for 16 hours on a single charge.

The Sony h.ear on headphones comes in five vibrant colors viridian blue, cinnabar red, charcoal black, lime yellow and bordeaux pink. It is priced at $199.99 and will be available in November in the US.
