WhatsApp just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Jan Koum, CEO of the popular messenger has revealed that it has surpassed 900 million monthly active users.
Koum shared the latest milestone on his Facebook page and tagged Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in the announcement. Unfortunately, Koum did not share other insights about the usage of the WhatsApp such as number of messages shared each day and so on. The year 2015 has been quite successful for WhatsApp as it keeps multiplying its user base. Earlier in January, WhatsApp hit 700 million monthly active users and that number snowballed to 800 million in April which means that the messaging platform added 100 million users in just 3 months.
Considering this numbers it is clear that this time WhatsApp added another 100 million users in four months. At this rate, the popular cross platform messaging app could soon hit the billion mark by the end of this year. Facebook announced the WhatsApp acquisition in February last year that finally completed in October for $22 billion. Earlier this year it introduced WhatsApp Web that lets users to send messages through browsers. In comparison, Facebook Messenger crossed 700 million monthly active users in July.
