Google has announced that it is finally bringing Podcasts to Play Music. Podcasters can start uploading their shows to Play Music via a newly launched portal.
Google says that besides the usual searching and browsing for podcasts, the new service will “connect new listeners with podcasts based on what they’re doing, how they’re feeling, or what they’re interested in.” This will give podcast fans and new listeners a way of finding and listening to content that’s unique to Google Play Music. Google is already working with over a dozen popular podcasts and networks to bring their shows to Play Music when this new service rolls out. The list of networks that will be available at the start include 5by5, Dan Carlin, Dave Ramsey, Earwolf, Feral Audio, Gimlet Media, HBO, Head Gum, HowStuffWorks, Loud Speakers Network, Nerdist / Legendary, Public Radio International, Radiotopia / PRX, Sideshow Network, Slate / Panoply, StarTalk Radio, This Week in Tech, Tim Ferriss
The company said that it is presently working with more than a dozen well known podcasters to get their shows on the service. Google however did not said when the podcasts will become available on Google Play Music. Podcasters in the US can start uploading shows now at g.co/podcastportal. The latest move comes from Google at a time when the music streaming space is getting competitive with Apple iTunes, Spotify and other players.
