Google is out with the numbers for Android distribution and this time it’s latest OS – Marshmallow has made its first appearance. The latest Android OS that started rolling out to a variety of Android devices mostly the Nexus series is now present on 0.3 percent of devices.
Lollipop (5.0/5.1) adoption has reached 25.6 percent, up 2.1 percent. It was 23.5 percent in October. KitKat (4.4) is continuing to shrink every month as it has reduced from 38.9 percent to 37.8 percent while Jelly Bean (4.1/4.2/4.3) is now present at 29 percent, down from 30.2 percent. Meanwhile, Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) is present on 3.3 percent of devices down from 3.4 percent and Gingerbread (2.3) on 3.8 percent and finally Froyo still breathing at 0.2 percent.
It will be interesting to see how much the Marshmallow percentage will increase over the coming months whereas the Lollipop adoption continues to soar with more smartphone makers updating their devices.
