Apple has updated News app with a new feature with an aim to offer more news. With the latest update, Apple’s editors will curate a list of “top stories” that will be displayed for all of the apps users.
These human curated news will be offered least a couple of times a during the day. The new Top Stories section will be available in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. These top stories will be selected in the morning and afternoon. Users will still get the regular amount of news that they usually receive. At the time of launching News, Apple had stated that the app will learn from your patterns, likes and behaviour and highlight stories accordingly.
In addition, Apple is also now integrating ComScore technology to track traffic and make sure publishers “get advertiser credit for the views their content generates.” The company had hired editors to curate content few months back and it looks like they will be working on the new Top Stories feature.
