Lenovo has announced ThinkPad X1, a modular tablet at the CES. This tablet lets you add a presenter module that includes a pico projector and HDMI port, ThinkPad keyboard, including trackpoint, which can snap onto the tablet, additional battery and even a 3D imaging module with its rear-facing Intel RealSense camera. The tablet packs a 12-inch (2160×1440 pixels) display, Intel Core m7 Processor and even has optional 4G LTE-A support. It also has a built-in kick stand like the Microsoft Surface tablets.
The ThinkPad keyboard offers three adjustable typing angles. The tablet with keyboard weigh 1kg and the tablet alone weighs just 790 grams. The display supports active stylus and the palm rejection logic uses a new firmware algorithm to block accidental touches created when the palm brushes or rests on the display.
Regarding its design and construction of the tablet, Lenovo said:
Easy internal access to key components has been integrated into the ThinkPad X1 Tablet design. This true enterprise-class serviceability allows users to reach, replace and repair essential components such as the battery, WWAN card and SSD, simply by removing the A-cover.
