Apple is reportedly working on app to switch easily from iPhone to Android [Update]

Apple Move to iOS

Apple released its ‘Move to iOS’ app for Android last year so that Android users can transfer Contacts, Message history, Camera photos and videos, Web bookmarks, Mail accounts and Calendars to iPhone, iPad or iPod touch when setting up iOS 9. Now The Telegraph (Via) is reporting that the company is working on a new app for iOS users to more easily transfer data to Android devices.

During earnings for the financial year Q4 2015, Tim Cook said that over 30% customers who purchased an iPhone last quarter switched from an Android device and also said that it is the largest number since Apple began measuring it three or so years ago.

This new move from Apple is due to pressure from European operators who are concerned that only a tiny fraction of customers ever move off the iPhone because of the technical hassle of transferring data, according to the report. The European Commission began an investigation into the company’s contracts with European wireless operators in 2013.

The report also says that Apple has privately agreed to help by making the transitioning tool. Since the report does not mention a release date for the tool, we will have to wait for Apple to confirm it officially.

[Update] – Apple has denied these rumors and the company spokesperson Trudy Muller told BuzzFeed, “There is no truth to this rumor. We are entirely focused on switching users from Android to iPhone, and that is going great.”
