Uber is upping its game in the competitive ride hailing market in India. According to a new report from Re/Code, the company is in talks to integrate its service into Snapdeal’s app.
The latest move comes from Uber after Google recently added Ola to its Maps app in India. If the duo sign up the deal, users will be able to book an Uber ride right from the Snapdeal app. Earlier this month, Snapdeal integrated Zomato, Redbus and Cleartrip into the app which allows users to book bus tickets, order food and make travel plans. All these features wear first rolled out to a select group of users and it is expected that the Uber integration will also start with small group of users.
Snapdeal competes with Flipkart and Amazon.in in the Indian e-commerce scenario and has been striving to differentiate itself as a player. The company acquired Frecharge mobile payment service in April last year and also integrated the Freecharge wallet into its Android and iOS mobile apps.
Uber could leverage the integration to compete with Ola while Snapdeal could also benefit as, this offering would be one of the kind by a e-commerce platform in the country at present.
