Microsoft is creating its own version of IFTTT (If This Then That) tool which is dubbed as Flow. The service lets you to connect apps and services and automate portions of your workflow.
The Flow tool connects to more than 35 different services, including both Microsoft services like OneDrive and SharePoint, and public software services like Slack, Twitter and Salesforce.com and so on. Microsoft said that it is planning to add new integrations to Flow soon. Similar to IFTTT, users will have the ability to create workflows across multiple services. With the help of Flow, users can set up notifications across platforms, sync up folders in different programs or automate software approvals, organize data from Twitter, handle approvals and much more.
Microsoft has listed some actions you can take by using Flow like copy files between OneDrive and Dropbox, archive tweets to OneDrive files, send a message on Slack when manager emails, copy Salesforce leads into Dynamics CRM, post to Yammer if new tweets match with hashtag, for new GitHub issues, send a Slack notification and add a card in Trello, create a to-do item in Wunderlist for important emails, send me an email when a new list is created on MailChimp.
Flow is currently available as a preview. The company is also introducing a public preview for PowerApps which connects to your existing systems and data sources securely, allows you to build apps, forms, and workflows without writing code, and lets you publish apps instantly for web and mobile.
