It looks like WhatsApp wants to expand its availability from mobile devices to desktop. The popular cross platform messenger app is tipped to be working on native desktop apps for Windows and Mac.
A Twitter account WABetaInfo which follows all the latest updates and details about WhatsApp has released a screenshot that drops hints about desktop apps. The screenshots show upcoming WhatsApp builds and releases along with “Download for Mac OS X” and “Download for Windows” buttons that are apparently linked to desktop apps for both Windows and Mac.
It must be noted that these images are not confirmed by WhatsApp but there could be possibility that the service is working on the native desktop client. WhatsApp rolled out WhatsApp Web last year that lets you use the service from your desktop browser like Chrome, Firefox and Opera. The Facebook owned popular instant messenger service has over 1 billion monthly active users and offers apps for various platforms like Windows Phone, BlackBerry OS, Nokia and Symbian devices.
WhatsApp native desktop apps for Windows and OSX would be nice addition and lets hope they become official soon.
