Earlier in March it was reported that Google is working on Amazon Echo competitor. Now a new report from Re/Code is giving some additional inputs on the upcoming device from Google.

The standalone device which is internally code-named as ‘Chirp’ will integrate “Okay, Google” voice search tech. Similar to Amazon Echo, Chirp will be able to respond to voice commands, answer questions and even perform tasks like turn on music and so on. As per sources, Google’s device will resemble its OnHub wireless router in terms of design and look. The report further said that Google will not announce Chirp at Google I/O 2016, but it will likely debut later this year.

For those unaware, Amazon Echo is a voice enabled assistant that comes in a form of a cylindrical tube-shaped speaker and acts as a smart hub for your home. Introduced in November 2014, Echo works like Google Now or Siri and helps you with day to day tasks like making a to-do-list, setting reminders, playing music, checking weather and so on.
