Sony announced the Xperia XZ smartphone at ongoing IFA 2016 in Berlin. We are live at the event and have got our hands on company’s latest flagship smartphone. So let’s take a detailed look at hardware and specifications.
The Xperia XZ sports a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 64-bit 14nm processor with Adreno 530 GPU. The phone runs Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and comes with 3GB RAM, 32GB / 64GB (Dual SIM) internal memory, expandable memory up to 256GB via microSD card.
Sony has refreshed the design for its Xperia series and the result is impressive. The device is sleek and has curved sides and a 2.5D curved glass.
The Sony branding, earpiece and usual set of proximity and ambient light sensor is present up front. Also present is 13MP front-facing camera with 1/3” Exmor RS sensor, 22mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens, 1080p video recording.
There are three on screen touch button and a front speaker.
The phone comes with single as well dual SIM options. It measures 146 x 72 x 8.1 mm and weighs 161 grams.
The right side houses power button that comes baked with a fingerprint sensor, dedicated camera button and volume rockers.
On the top there is a 3.5 mm audio jack and a secondary microphone.
A USB Type C port and a primary microphone is present at the bottom.
There is a 23MP rear camera with Exmos RS sensor, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 lens, Predictive Hybrid AF, 5-axis stabilization, 4K video recording. The Xperia branding is present at the center.
Connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ GLONASS and NFC. The phone has a 2900 mAh Battery with Qnovo’s Adaptive Charging technology. The Sony Xperia XZ comes in Forest Blue, Mineral Black and Platinum colors and will roll out globally from October 2016.
