Introduced at IFA back in September, Lenovo launched the K6 Power smartphone in India yesterday. Targeted at the sub Rs. 10,000 market, the phone brings competitive specifications and pretty solid construction. We spent some time with the handset and here’s what we thought of it.

The front of the Lenovo K6 Power sports a 5 inch Full HD display. The K6 Power has a maximum brightness level of 450 nits which we found to be adequate even for outdoor viewing. In addition, the viewing angles are pretty good. Up above the display is an 8MP front facing camera while three capacitive keys lie below it.

Over on the right side lies the volume rocker as well as the power button. The tactile feedback on the buttons is quite decent and this extends to the overall ergonomics as well. Interestingly, Lenovo has opted to place the microUSB port and 3.5mm audio jack over at the top of the handset.

Over at the back, the design is very simplistic and symmetric. The 13MP camera module and fingerprint scanner share the same dimensions and have a LED flash placed between the two.

Coming to the software package, there’s Android 6.0.1 onboard with a fairly minimal skin. That said, there’s a fair few features built into it. From a fingerprint based app locker to Dual Apps, we find the additions to be quite useful. There’s a lot more built in on the software end that we’ll detail in our full review.

In terms of specifications, the phone is running a Snapdragon 430 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. There’s also 32GB of storage built into the phone which you can expand via the microSD card slot. There’s dual SIM support with 4G support on both. The battery on the Lenovo K6 Power is rated for 4000 mAh which should last you about two days of use. You can use that massive battery to charge up other devices using reverse USB OTG based charging.

Lenovo is clearly doing some interesting stuff with the K6 Power with their focus on battery performance and usage experience instead of all out specs and the handset should offer tough competition to smartphones from LeEco and Xiaomi’s stables. The Lenovo K6 Pro will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting 6th December and is priced at Rs. 9,999.
