Google is out with its monthly Android distribution chart for the month of March. Android Nougat adoption has seen a boost and is now present on 2.8% of all Android device, up from 1.2% in February.
Android Nougat 7.0 is present on 2.4% while o.4% of devices run Nougat 7.1%. The reason in the surge for Nougat adoption can be attributed the the new phone launches at MWC 2017 and older devices receiving the update. Marshmallow grew from 30.7% to 31.3% however, Lollipop 5.0 and 5.1 still combine for the largest 32.5% share, decreased just 0.4% over last month. KitKat is present on 20.8% devices, down from 21.9%, Jelly Bean is holding on at 10.6%, and both Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread at 1.0%.
These numbers are compiled from Android devices that accessed the Play Store in a seven-day period ending on March 6th. Just for the sake of comparison, Apple’s iOS 10 was released in the middle of September and is already on 79% of devices.
