Google has added quick shortcuts for popular tools, points of interests, cafes, restaurants and more to its Search app on Android and iOS and on Google.com. Additional shortcuts like translate, nearby attractions, flights, hotels, internet speed test, currency converter, and more are available for Android users. These shortcuts will be present below the search bar.
Currently, Google app showcases news headlines relevant to your interests, weather and sports scores in one feed however, with the latest update, users will be able to tap individual topics to browse an entire feed of information related specifically to that subject. There will be a dedicated entertainment shortcut that shows movies playing this weekend at your local theater or what to watch on TV. You can tap into news, trailers and reviews that are relevant for you or swipe through listings to catch up on your favorite show.
The shortcuts are being rolled out to the Google search apps in the US at the moment. It is not known when they will be available globally.
