Google is making it easier for you to search for events that are happening near you. The company is adding a new feature to Search app and mobile web that will show list of all the local events happening near you.
For example, when you search for “concerts this weekend” you will see a new Events tab at the top of your search results. Google will also allow you to filter the results by time periods. So you can search for events happening today, tomorrow, next week, next month and so on. If you search for “art events this weekend” Google Search will now show list of events happening around you. You will be able to see the details about each event like its title, date, time, and location. Tapping “more events” will expand the view to see additional dates, and you can tap again for more details or to buy tickets.
Moreover, if you are not looking for anything specific, you can simply try typing “events near me” and Google Search will share a list of events what’s happening around the corner. Unfortunately, this feature is currently available only in the U.S as of now and there is no word about a global roll out. Google already shows you list of nearby restaurants, places nearby, cafes, restaurants and more in India. It will be great if it also rolls out the local events feature in the country as we do have several interesting events happening around us almost daily.
