Google has announced that it will show estimated wait times at restaurants soon on Google Search and to Map later. This lets you decide whether the food is really worth an hour wait or plan ahead to get your fix at a time when you can avoid a wait entirely.

You can see wait times for nearly a million sit-down restaurants around the world that allow walk-ins, said Google. You can search for the restaurant on Google, open the business listing, and scroll down to the Popular Times section to see the estimated wait time in real time. You can tap hour bars to see the estimated wait for that time period.
You can also scroll left and right to see a summary of each day’s wait times below the hour bars that would allow you to plan ahead to beat the crowds. Earlier this year Google Maps got feature to show real-time info about crowded places.
Like Popular Times and Visit Duration, wait time estimates are based on anonymized historical data, said Google.
