Moto E5 Play surfaces in first press render

Moto E5 Play

Motorola Moto E5 surfaced last month showing the device in its full glory and now we get to see the Moto E5 Play version that will be heading to Verizon and Cricket Wireless as the E5 Cruise. Thanks to popular leakster, Evan Blass, the E5 Play almost looks very identical to the E5.

Since we just have the renders, there’s no way to confirm the specifications of the Play variant just yet. Since the Moto E4 launched in India last year came with a MediaTek chipset which is different from the Qualcomm variant of the US variant, it is safe to assume the same might happen this time as well.

According to the leaked specifications, the Moto E5 is expected to sport a 5-inch display, WiFi, MediaTek chipset, single primary camera and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. In fact, this is the first time that Motorola is going with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor in a long time. Despite the change in display dimensions, Motorola has still stuck with 16:9 aspect ratio which looks odd.

The clock widget on the rendered image shows April 3rd indicating that the launch is not anytime soon. The next-gen Moto smartphones are expected to be announced at the MWC later this month.
