Xiaomi’s 120W charger gets certified, could power upcoming flagship smartphone

Xiaomi’s upcoming 120W charger with the model number MDY-12-ED has passed 3C certification, which hints that we can expect the product that it powers should be out soon. It has 5V-3A, 11V-6A and 20V-6A. The charger is designed by Huntkey.

Xiaomi showcased its 100W Super Charge Turbo fast charging technology that can charge 4000mAh battery in just 17 minutes. Vivo also introduced 120W FlashCharge technology that will let you charge a phone with a 4000mAh battery from 0 to 50% in 5 minutes and from 0 to 100% in just 13 minutes.

The Xiaomi charger even surfaced in a video last month that showed similar specification. It has single USB Type-A charging port, unlike the company’s USB Type-C PD fast chargers that is available for its laptops, so this should power the company’s upcoming smartphone.

Based on rumours, the 120W fast charging technology is expected to make its debut in the Mi MIX 4 or Mi 10s Pro launching later this year. We should know more details once Xiaomi officially announces this officially.
