Rumor: Motorola to reduce Xoom shipments gradually – Xoom 2 expected?

Motorola is expected to ship 700,000-800,000 units of their first Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet Xoom in the first quarter of 2011. With total shipment of 200,000 units in the month of February, which should reach 400,000-500,000 at the end of month of march, their forecast looks good according to upstream suppliers.

The rumor is that they are to ship less that 600,000 units in the second quarter of this year and stop their production completely after that. But they are confident of selling 3 to 5 million tablets before that. There are also rumors that this could be due to the launch of iPad 2 earlier than expected and Motorola may also come up with a successor Xoom 2.
