RIM has announced the BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, multi-platform Mobile Device Management (MDM) for BlackBerry , Android and iOS devices. This would let the users to manage devices, users, groups and policies from a single place, required and optional work applications. It also supports BlackBerry Balance technology that enables BlackBerry smartphones to be used for business and personal purposes.
The BlackBerry Mobile Fusion will provide mobile device management capabilities such as
- Asset management
- Configuration management
- Security and policy definition and management
- Secure and protect lost or stolen devices (remote lock, wipe)
- User- and group-based administration
- Multiple device per user capable
- Application and software management
- Connectivity management (Wi-Fi, VPN, certificate)
- Centralized console
- High scalability
The BlackBerry Mobile Fusion requires BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0.3 and it would work on BlackBerry handsets, BlackBerry PlayBook, Android 2.1 to 2.3 and iOS 4.0 and above. It is currently in early beta testing for Enterprise customers, and the closed beta program which will start in January. It is expected to be available for all from March 2012.
