Futuremark has announced that new 3DMark Cross-platform Benchmarking tool would be available for Windows RT, Android, iPhone and iPad other than Windows, later this year. The new 3DMark tool would also let you compare scores across all these platforms, since the test content, settings and rendering resolution are similar. 3DMark is popular benchmarking tool for PCs, 3DMark 11 is the latest version on Windows. This would compete with the GLBenchmark, popular benchmarking tool that is available on Android, iPhone and iPad.
The 3D Mark would have Ice Storm test that would include 2 new graphic tests to measure the GPU performance and a physics test designed to measure CPU performance. It uses OpenGL ES 2.0 on Android and iOS. In Windows RT, the Ice Storm test uses DirectX 11 engine limited to Direct3D feature level 9.
