Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of the Reliance Industries has revealed details about the Reliance Jio and 4G launch plans at the 39th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai today. Last year the company first revealed its plans for 4G. Now the company has revealed that they would increase the Reliance Jio Infocomm team by nearly 10,000 professionals nationally over the next year. It started with 700 professionals a year back in Navi Mumbai, now the company has over 3,000 professionals.
Reliance Jio Infocomm tied up with Reliance Communications recently to get access to the latter’s optic fiber network which will serve as the backbone for Reliance Jio’s 4G network. It is the only firm to win broadband spectrum in all 22 circles in India.
Mukesh Ambani also said that they have finalized the key vendor and supplier partnerships for the initial launch. “We have ambitious plan for the next 12 months towards launching the services across India. Our 4G Reliance Jio initiative will build scale based on technological superiority, affordability and providing an unparalleled range of services that do not exist today”, Ambani added.
Reliance would invest Rs. 150,000 crore in the next three years in several sectors including 4G.
