Airtel has launched new roaming packs for both the prepaid and postpaid customers that would let them enjoy free roaming while travelling across India. Airtel launched a roaming pack for prepaid customers in Delhi back in March that offered discounted rates for incoming calls for roaming, now the new packs would offer free incoming calls. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reduced the limit for national roaming tariff for calls and SMS last month. Videocon already offers free incoming calls without any processing fee or a special tariff vouchers. Other operators are yet to announce free national roaming plans.
The Rs. 5 pack offers Incoming calls free on national roaming and outgoing calls at 1.5p/sec with 1 day validity. The Rs. 79 pack offers free incoming calls while roaming nationally and similar rate of 1.5p/sec for out going calls in both home circle and roaming. It comes with 30 days validity. Both these packs are available for pre-paid customers. To activate the Rs. 5 daily pack you can Call 121311, SMS ROAM to 121 or Dial *121*1#. You can go to a retailer for recharge or use the Airtel online recharge to get the Rs. 79 roaming pack.
The postpaid plan at Rs. 75 per month offers free incoming while roaming and out going calls are charged based on their plan. It is a auto renewal plan.
