Micromax is all set to launch their devices in Russia and Romania later this year, according to a recent report from The Hindu Business Line. Micromax roped in the Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman as their brand Ambassador and launched its flagship smartphone, the Canvas Turbo, the company’s latest flagship smartphone with a full HD display yesterday.
Micromax is now the no. 2 Smartphone player with 22% marketshare in India, according to a recent report from IDC. Micromax already sells their devices in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri-Lanka, Maldives, UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Afghanistan and Brazil.
They plan to start selling their devices in Russia starting from this December, and has already set up an office in Russia with initial employees, says the report. It is also eyeing to launch their smartphones in range of European countries. Micromax is already ready with couple of devices especially for the Russia market, and has also tied up with Yandex, Russia’s largest search engine for applications.
Micromax is also looking to acquire a software company, but did not reveal any other details regarding it. Micromax introduced range of new features including a new video player with pause to look away, Video pinning, pop-up browser and Blow to Unlock feature for the Canvas 4. Hope we can expect new software features in their upcoming flagship smartphone.
