Corning Incorporated has announced world’s first Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014. This is the EPA-registered antimicrobial cover glass that is formulated with an antibacterial agent, ionic silver, which is incorporated into the glass surface that help keep touch surfaces clean of bacteria and microbes. Even though this has a special coating, it has the same toughness and optical clarity of Corning Gorilla Glass, promises the company.

Since you touch your mobile device often, bacteria can exist on the screen of these devices. Corning Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass help address this growing concern, which inhibits the growth of algae, mold, mildew, fungi, and bacteria because of its built-in antimicrobial property. This is effective for the lifetime of a device,  says James R. Steiner, senior vice president and general manager, Corning Specialty Materials.

This glass can installed in electronic devices such as computers, cellular phones, calculators, telephones, and other electronic display panels. Corning would demo this at the International CES this week. We will definitely check it out to bring more info and a demo of the glass. Check out the official demo video below.
