There have been rumors that Sony Xperia Z2 has been globally delayed due to a component shortage. Clove UK and other online retailers have confirmed that the SIM-free variant would not launch in UK until May. The Xperia Z2 Tablet went on sale in UK earlier this month and the Xperia Z2 smartphone was expected to go on sale in UK in early April for 599 GBP. The flagship smartphone from Sony is expected in early or mid May.
Customers who have pre-ordered the smartphone through major carriers are expected to receive the smartphone in April, says Sony UK. Here is the official statement from Sony UK that Android Central managed to get hold of.
Xperia Z2 will be available in the UK during April and we are expecting to deliver to all consumers who have placed a pre-order through our key partners. We are working tirelessly to maximise stock levels in April but currently we do not expect to meet the high demand across all our sales channels. Please stay tuned for further information and confirmed retail availability.
Sony has a component manufacturing issue from a third party who make a part for the phone, according UK retailer Unlocked Mobiles, CNET reports.
Sony unveiled the Xperia Z2 at the MWC 2014 last month. It packs a 5.2-inch 1080p display, powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and has a 20.7-megapixel camera with 4K Ultra HD video recording. It is not clear when the smartphone would go on sale in India.
