Samsung unveiled the Gear Fit, its first fitness band at the MWC 2014 back in February. One of the main drawbacks of the band was the lack of vertical display orientation, making it hard use it vertically, like you use a watch. You might have seen it in our hands on video of the smart band. Samsung seems to have fixed the problem. New Gear Fit devices in Korea seems to have this feature and the Samsung’s official store blog shows the Gear Fit’s vertical UI.
The Samsung Gear fit has a wide 1.84-inch (432 x 128 pixels) Curved Super AMOLED display, so the fonts would be small in the vertical orientation. It also has Pedometer, Heart Rate sensor, Accelerometer and Gyro sensors. It has IP67 ratings for dust and water resistance and uses Bluetooth 4.0 LE to pair with your Samsung Smartphone.
It also has Heart Rate sensor to monitor your heart rate easily and offers Notifications for calls, SMS, E-mails and more, when paired with Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
The Samsung Gear fit is already on sale in India for Rs. 15,450. According to Pocket-lint, the vertical display update has rolled out to early UK test devices of the Gear Fit, so we can expect it to roll out globally.
