Age of Empires goes mobile with World Domination for iOS, Android and Windows Phone

Age of Empires, the classic strategy game that put you in command of your favorite characters from history, is going mobile, with a game titled “Age of Empires: World Domination” for iOS, Android and Windows Phone. This Microsoft title, that has been the rage among RTS online multiplayer geeks for a long time, has gone through many iterations, with the company recently announcing that it will be licensing its franchise for the mobile platforms. As reported earlier, this mobile version takes its form thanks to KLab Global, a game development company that will be doing this port. The game is slated to be available for all the major mobile platforms including iOS, Android and Windows Phone and will ship this summer. Here’s the game trailer –

As you can see from the video above, it technically is a mishmash of AOE II: Age of Kings and Conquerors which features historic figures like Joan of Arc, Attila the Hun and many more. You will be playing through a campaign with various conquerors and kings, build your empire through the different lands and fight with the enemies from afar. There will be different civilizations with their own style of houses, armies and so forth, making it a fruitful history lesson, we’d say.

There is no word on the multiplayer situation here, which is quite frankly the most entertaining part of Age of Empires, but we will see if anything changes in that regard, as the game is still under development. The mobile port is supposedly having enhanced effects in battle, but the graphic quality seems rather amateur. Sure, it might be better than the AOE that we have come to love, but these days mobile chipsets are far more capable and we think the graphics could use a bit of an upheaval here. That said, we still look forward to this game arriving on mobile, as strategy games are a good time pass during commute.
