We hope that by now you have already seen our unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy S5. We already brought you the photo gallery of the Electric Blue version of the Galaxy S5 from the MWC 2014, where it was announced. Now here’s a photo gallery of the white version for you. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 5.1-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display, powered by a Octa-Core Exynos 5422 (A15 1.9 GHz + A7 1.3 GHz) processor with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with a new Touchwiz UI.
It has a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. It has curved corners that we had seen on the S3 and the S4.
It has Samsung’s signature home button below the display that has a built fingerprint scanner for biometric screen locking feature and mobile payments. It has capacitive touch buttons on either sides of the home button, as usual.
It has chrome finish on the sides, that gives the phone an elegant look. The Galaxy S5 is just 8.1 mm thick and weighs 145 grams.
On the top there is a large 3.5mm audio jack.
It also houses an Infrared LED for smart TV remote and a secondary microphone on the top.
The volume rocker is present on the left side.
Since the phone has IP67 ratings for dust and water resistance, the micro USB slot on the bottom is covered by a protective flap. The primary microphone is also present on the bottom.
On the back there is a 16-megapixel camera with LED Flash. It can record videos at Ultra HD or 4K resolution at 30fps, has a lot of features including HDR (Rich tone), Selective Focus, Virtual Tour Shot and more. Along with the flash, the Galaxy S5 also has a heart rate monitor for the first time in a Samsung smartphone.
The back has dotted patterns and offers nice feel. There is a small loudspeaker grill on the back.
On the right side there is a power button.
The removable back cover houses a 2800 mAh removalbe battery. It has 16GB internal memory and an expansion slot that lets you expand the memory up to 64GB with microSD. It has 2GB RAM.
Since the phone has water-resistant capabilities the back cover has rubber sealing on the inside. Last year’s Samsung Galaxy S4 had a lot of software features, but the Galaxy S5 comes with new hardware features such as fingerprint scanner, Heart rate sensor, dust and water resistance and more.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 went on sale in India yesterday at a price tag of Rs. 51,500. It comes in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold colors, but only the White and Black variants are available in most countries including India currently.
