Uninor India has opened his Chennai office which will serve as its HQ to Tamil Nadu and Kerala. What’s interesting is that this building has a Silver LEED Certification which means it’s eco-friendly.
The Chennai office has about 113 employees who work in this complex which has NO CABINS as Uninor wants to embrace Transparency and Openness !
At the function which was headed by .Stefan Kercza the first customer in Tamil nadu was felicitated.

Uninor, the new global telecom company in India inaugurated its Chennai office, headquarters to the Tamil Nadu and Kerala . Located at Tecci Park, Karapakkam, Old Mahabalipuram Road, the Uninor office has been built with a lot of precision and a high focus on environmental conservation. The office complex has a Silver award certification in LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) by Indian Green Building Council indicating a very high level of compliance to LEED norms. There are about 15 LEED-rated green buildings in Chennai and the Uninor office complex is one of them.
The Chennai office was inaugurated by Mr. Stefan Kercza, who heads the Tamil Nadu & Kerala Hub. The Chief Guest for the inauguration was Mr. Abdul Kadir, Managing Director, Buhari Group. The Chennai office of Uninor presently has about 113 employees and plans to expand further in the future. The people strength for Uninor across Tamil Nadu is around 175.
At the inauguration function, Uninor recognised a young achiever who serves as a role model to youngsters. Uninor represents the aspirations of India today- youthful, vibrant, demanding and a catalyst to change. It was apt to felicitated Ms. Shruti Neelakantan, an active climate change champion. This 19 year old is a student of B.A Journalism and also among the 14 international climate champions who are crusading the cause of global warming by driving small but significant means to take environmentally friendly measures at work, at home and in our daily lives. She was selected by British Council to represent India on an expedition to the Arctic to create awareness on global warming.
The Uninor office is an open office system with no cabins. The few closed rooms are glass-walled and meant for conferences and meetings. The principle of transparency and openness is maintained in the design and layout of the office. Brightly lit with plenty of natural light, even the head sits in an open hall with other employees.
The company is paying special attention to the Health, Safety, Security & the Environment. Special features have been factored in to ensure energy efficiency. Double glazed windows, heat recovery systems, variable frequency drives for air conditioning with treated fresh air and maximum natural light for the office space ensures energy efficiency. The building is also made with special focus on the conservation of natural resources through the use of Sewage treatment plant to treat water for re-use for utilities, gardening irrigation system for gardening, environment-friendly / certified building materials.
There is also a special focus on the safety and usability in the building. The building is user friendly for differently-abled people with the presence of ramps, access and specially designed rest rooms. Special attention will be given to safety training and regular safety drills.
Uninor, plans to replicate the success of Telenor’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in other countries, here in Tamil Nadu. The company plans to roll out a structured CSR program in the near future.
Speaking on this occasion Mr. Stefan Kercza said, “We are a very people-centric organisation and we have taken great care to design the office so that there is open communication and transparency within the organisation. We also encourage our employees to be health conscious and we are making arrangements to provide gym and cafeteria facilities. This office is going to encourage people to adapt to energy efficient ways of living like using video conferencing to cut down travel and usage of paper.”
The company, high on customer focus, also felicitated its first customer for Tamil Nadu.
