Japan Display is one of leading producers of smartphone displays and the Japanese company has now started shipping the samples of its 10.1inch 4K displays. The 10.1inch LCD display has a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels ( 3840 – horizontal and 2160 – vertical) and the display is being called 4K2K display. We are yet to see 4K TVs become mainstream, but the 4K fever has already started catching on to the tablet industry.
In 2013, Japan Display Inc had produced a 4K2K display of 12.1inches which had a resolution of 365ppi. The new 10.1inch 4K2K display has the same resolution, but has a higher pixel density of 438ppi (which is on par with the smartphone industry’s norm – 5inch Full HD displays).
With the introduction of high resolution 4K2K tablets, Japan Display wants its consumers to enjoy the best of video, web browsing and gaming on its displays. Like other JDI displays, the 4K2K 10.1inch display will as well use the LTPS(low temperature poly silicon) technology to make the display power efficient. With these 4K displays for tablets, JDI pushes forward to be the pioneer of smartphone displays.
