It seems RIM is leaving no stone unturned to capitalize on the phenomenon called Blackberry. After announcing higher than expected Q3 2009 Revenue, RIM has announced its plans for other major markets in China and Russia with new handset launch and reduced price plans.
In both the markets RIM is introducing the new slim Blackberry Curve 8520. Apart from being a quad-band EDGE phone with dedicated multimedia keys and excellent social networking tools, the phone features a highly tactile full QWERTY keyboard for comfortable, accurate typing. The phone is WiFi enabled with 4.5 Hours talktime and 17 days standby.
The other features of the phone as reflected in the specifications are:
- Touch-sensitive trackpad for reliable, responsive typing and navigation
- 256 MB Flash memory and a 512 Mhz next generation processor for enhanced performance
- Premium phone features including voice activated dialing, and Bluetooth (2.0), with support for hands-free headsets, car kits, stereo headsets and other Bluetooth peripherals
- 2 MP digital camera with zoom and video recording
- Advanced media player for music, pictures and videos, with dedicated media keys and a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, plus BlackBerry® Media Sync, which makes it easy to quickly sync music from iTunes® or Windows Media® Player with the smartphone
- Expandable memory via hot swappable microSD/SDHC memory card slot, supporting up to 16 GB cards today and expected to support next generation 32 GB cards when available; a 2 GB card is included
MTS (Mobile TeleSystems) has announced the availability of the phone across Russia, whereas China Mobile Hong Kong would be the provider of the phone across China.
Besides this, China Mobile also announced its reduced price plans for Blackberry Services with a plan of HK$68, the most affordable option in the market. It guarantees an unlimited access to Email and Instant Messaging.
